The 17th IEFT tour will begin in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. Ankara has many universities and is a classic student town. IEFT has long enjoyed very successful fairs in Ankara with both large numbers of students and great student potential and quality. In Ankara, IEFT hosts our customary networking reception in the Sheraton Hotel – catching up with old friends and making important contacts is a great way to kick off the tour!
After Ankara we travel to Adana in the south of Turkey. Adana has become an established IEFT destination on our Spring Tour. Adana is an industrial and business oriented city that is surrounded by developing cities: Mersin, Tarsus, Hatay, Gaziantep and Ýskender and four large universities. Apart from students, Adana is probably most famous for its kebabs. Join us for a tasty night of delicious Adana Kebab at one of the best local Kebab houses in Adana!
Flying west to the beautiful coastal city of Izmir will bring you to a typical Aegean seaside city with an easy atmosphere and warm weather. Izmir is a progressive and modern Turkish city and is surrounded by historically important destinations and must see towns: Bodrum, Cesme, Kusadasý, Manisa, Denizli, and Aydin. In this region there are 7 universities with thousands of students. Prior to the exhibition, IEFT organizes an optional tour of Ephesus and the Virgin Mary House, two not-to-be missed sights! Izmir also hosts the traditional IEFT sponsored fish dinner in one of the famous fish restaurants along the coastal boardwalk.
From Izmir we travel north for the two-day exhibition in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey (5th largest in the world!) and the only city on the globe to span two continents. Istanbul is the centre of business, entertainment, culture, education, history, culinary delights and is the busiest fair city with thousands of serious students flocking to the IEFT exhibition to meet international school representatives. Istanbul and its surrounding regions has over 40 universities and 350 high schools and is a must on the IEFT Fair circuit. IEFT organizes city tours as well as and unforgettable IEFT sponsored evening dinner cruise on the Bosphorus where you can enjoy Istanbul by moonlight, delicious food, drinks and even traditional belly dancing!
After Istanbul, we travel to Northern Cyprus where a bevy of student potential awaits you. Education is one of the fastest growing sectors in Northern Cyprus and over 50,000 currently study at the 5 private universities in the Republic. You will enjoy 2 sunny days of business and pleasure as we will meet you in the hotel casino and whisk you to an IEFT sponsored dinner at a traditional Cypriot restaurant by the sea.
Adding to our winning schedule, 2010 sees IEFT expanding into new Turkish student destinations: Konya and Eskisehir! Both cities are traditional “university towns” and hold much untouched student potential. Konya has the second largest university in Turkey and houses over 60,000 students and Eskisehir has over 50,000 students. After the fairs, let IEFT treat you to a mystical evening with the Whirling Dervishes dancing the traditional Islamic spiritual dance attributed to the Sufi philosophy. In both cities, IEFT sponsors mouth-watering dinners for a true local taste of the area! These are definitely important cities not to be missed!
