Over the past 6 years, IEFT has noticed a significant trend where students are paying close attention to European universities.  The Turkish market is recognizing the harmonious conditions the EU education community offers.  Students are realizing that quality international education is closer than they imagined and EU benefits are abundant.

 Turkey and Europe

A few years ago Turkey started negotiations for membership with the European Union.  Turkey currently holds candidate status within the EU.  Although it may take up to 10 years to complete negotiations, it has never been a better time for EU schools to prominently exhibit in this important education market.

The trend for Turkish students to study in European countries is on the rise.  For more than 4 years, Turkish universities have participated within the Erasmus Program and each year around 6000 Turkish university students actively partake in the Erasmus Program.  With the introduction of this programs in Turkish universities, IEFT has witnessed the demand for education in Europe increase exponentially.  Turkish students are flocking to European institutions for language courses, vocational programs, undergraduate and postgraduate programs at staggering rates.

According to international visa offices, the number of Turkish students currently studying each year at European universities is as follows:

Aim of “EEFT at IEFT”

“EEFT at IEFT” creates conditions conducive to building and strengthening existing multilateral relations between European Higher Education Institutions and Turkish universities and students.

“EEFT at IEFT” provides the ideal environment for student recruitment and fostering partnership opportunities and educational collaboration initiatives.   “EEFT at IEFT” offers a varied program ripe to further educational links:  individual student counselling sessions, b2b networking events and open public seminars (aimed at both prospective students as well as potential partner Turkish universities).

Benefits of “EEFT at IEFT”

As the largest education exhibition in Turkey and in Eastern Europe, IEFT welcomes over 120 institutes to our spring and fall events respectively and the number is growing each year.  Over half of our participants hail from European counties and the demand from students for European universities is great.

With this in mind, IEFT believes there would be a very significant impact if a European Higher Education village were at the fair.  EEFT European Higher Education Fairs of Turkey at the IEFT Exhibitions will better emphasize European education within Turkey and foster Turkish youth with a European spirit.

“EEFT at IEFT” Venue

student1.jpg“EEFT at IEFT” will be showcased in an exhibition hall devoted completely to EU universities to maximize the exposure for the European higher education system.  Demand has caused the traditional IEFT fair to expand so that a second exhibition room will be used exclusively for this concept - creating a true EU destination village.  The room itself will be divided into country zones with country flags and EU flags denoting each country’s presence at the fair.  Special access to European focused seminar rooms will further emphasize EU’s distinctive presence.

We envision the European Commission to showcase prominently in the center of the exhibition hall and the four key support powers to occupy country zones surrounding the European Commission stand creating powerful “destinations”.  European schools will occupy the outer zones of the hall.  Special stands of tables or booths will create a very uniquely European atmosphere for Turkish students.

 Partnership

In past exhibitions IEFT worked closely with special groups to create individual country destination focuses.

“EEFT at IEFT” looks to create a European education consciousness within Turkey that will benefit all EU countries.   “EEFT at IEFT” is in the unique position to offer Turkish students and their families a valuable window into European study options and a glance into the tremendous variety of programs offered throughout Europe.

“EEFT at IEFT” will help expand the EU vision in Turkey while creating a unique event that responds to the growing popularity and demand for European Schools and will attract a whole new segment of Turkish students responding to this exciting new event.

Who can attend “EEFT at IEFT”?

Promotion of “EEFT at IEFT”

student2.jpgIEFT will umbrella the efforts of the “EEFT at IEFT”.  “EEFT at IEFT” will benefit from the peripheral exposure from IEFT and the extensive promotion for which IEFT is already known.

Additionally, separate promotion will market “EEFT at IEFT” to our target group – namely universities and high schools in Turkey’s key cities.  Different media outlets will be used not only to highlight the event but also to promote scholarships, bursaries and special endorsements that will be offered at the exhibitions by our support partners.

Promotion will be separate for IEFT and EEFT but each fair will benefit in terms of cross-promotions which will increase the number of student visitors.  Both IEFT and EEFT exhibitions will take place simultaneously under one building (in separate exhibitions halls in Istanbul and Ankara) and will therefore both benefit from amplified student traffic.

“EEFT at IEFT” Visitor Profile

As with all IEFT events, “EEFT at IEFT” will be visited by thousands of high school and university students and their families as well as university graduates, company executives, Turkish university staff and decision makers, Erasmus Officers, members of TEAG (Turkish Education Agents Group) and other agents, Turkish high school teachers and management.

“EEFT at IEFT” and Europe

Europe is one of the top destinations for Turkish students to study tertiary education.  2007 saw a record number of students participating in Erasmus Programs through partnering Turkish universities and this trend only grows stronger.

With “EEFT at IEFT” you can be guaranteed maximum exposure both as a collective EU community as well as individual countries and universities within the European Village.  IEFT represents the foremost student exhibitions in Turkey and with more than 17,000 Turkish students currently studying at European universities, and Turkey moving ever closer to EU standards, Turkey is a market that cannot be overlooked.
